As health care organizations across New York State continue to struggle with financial and operational issues, philanthropy and fundraisers for our hospitals must play a greater role than ever before. Children's Hospital of Buffalo has prospered and has sustained unmistakable momentum in time of change and economy struggles due to the generosity and efforts of our own community and local Buffalo businesses.
The BAC in the past seven years has been an outstanding example in the buffalo community partnering with so many other buffalo businesses like Channel 2, M&T Bank and Panera Bread who support Fitness Frenzy (in memory of Samuel Terlecky) honoring a baby boy's memory and raising thousands of dollars funding many critical and needed area's of Women & Children's Hospital.
The funding needed to accomplish this task is critical to today's improvements as well as future improvements of hospital facilities such as, the neo-natal intensive care unit (where Samuel was cared for), oncology, same day surgery area, neurosurgery area, etc. Specific to the neo-natal floor of Children's, many items needed to care for infants born pre-mature such as a giraffe bad are one of the many expensive life sustaining instruments a child may not survive without. One giraffe bed is an expense of $100,000 to the hospital.
While improving the quality of a child's life through our fundraising efforts each year, we are in-turn improving the quality of our community and offering a state of the art facility where families from many areas of the state, even the country travel to find.
